The mimetic nature of jungle/dnb has always been uniquely powerful; the momentum of each successive iteration building an avalanche from a snowflake and a spell.
In 2006, there were factions within DnB that were essentially in an arms race; speeding to the summit of dance floor utility expressed in terms of hardness. There was no limit to the darkness in those scorching days. Men lived like scorpions.
It was a time of much angst, hyperbole and flame.
A blaze of black metal illuminated the southwestern sky. Around the battle-scarred ravers lay strewn the detritus of disaffected music culture.
In this maelstrom of solar flares and magnesium-hot drum samples, a mission was formed to bring funk to the hardcore, bring screamo the rave, and time stretch the mosh pit. Metal, hardcore, and industrial were the next logical progression of intensity for many junglists. Many lapsed heshers rediscovered how to ride the lightning in the cones of a bassbin.
At the same time, on the same planet, tempos were fracturing and forming industry-wide schisms. Dubstep and half-step subdivided our collective rhythmic mind into fractals. Slow was now heavier than fast.
To this extent, this work was manifested.
These objects were forged in magma by blind monks with utilitarian discipline and cosmic transcendental spirit. Synth nebulas and tactical bass metallurgy combine in a combustive dance floor ritual that melds the ancient with the frontier of a possible future.
We were the Witch King.
